9.00am – 3.00pm Turtle Rescuer
Join us at the Dolphin Discovery Centre for a full-day program learning about everything turtles!!
Learn how to recognise different turtle species from their tracks. Discover how warming sands, predators, and human impact affect our turtle nests. Participate in an egg excavation activity to save turtle eggs and participate in a turtle rescue simulation. Meet our rescue turtles and see how we get them ready to be released back to the ocean!
You will then get to measure some rescue plushie turtles just like we would with our real rescues! We will discuss satellite tracking (satellite telemetry), a form of data collection used by scientists. You will need to design and make your own tracker and tag your ‘turtle’ so they are ready for release!
Please note this is a ‘drop and leave’ school holiday activity suitable for children 6-13 years of age. Tickets must be purchased for participating children only. The ages for each activity are in place for your children to get the most out of the activity and due to safety, we cannot allow older or younger children to participate.
